One of the simplest things you can do is wash your hands frequently.  That's right simply wash your hands frequently and thoroughly using warm water and a disinfectant soap.

  1. Control indoor humidity levels.  Maintaining humidity levels below 58% and above 30% will help prevent biological growth.  Avoid turning your heating and air conditioning system off for long periods of time.  Also avoid setting the temperature back more than three degrees from your comfortable setup point when your home is not occupied.  For ideal green grass climate humidity control consider installing a standalone dehumidifier.   A dehumidifier will help control the dew-point in your home and provide you with a higher level of comfort.
  2. Dark spaces like closets.  Dark spaces like closets and rooms with low airflow circulation can be pron to biological growth.  Consider inspecting these areas consistently and clean surfaces with a mold and mildew prevention product.
  3. Air Purifiers.  Most people have seem room air purifiers, but often overlook that products like the Air Scrubber are specifically made for your whole home.  The Air Scrubber can be installed in the supply ducting of your HVAC duct work and distribute purified air to your entire home.
  4. UV Treatment Lights.  UV has been used for years to treat drinking water, so it's a great tool to use to treat your indoor evaporator coil on your cooling system.  The indoor evaporator coil usually stays dark and damp and provides an ideal location for biological growth.  UV can help stop growth and also help with "Dirty Sock Syndrome".
  5. Making sure you have a good filter system and a good duct system on your home comfort system will also greatly impact the quality of your indoor air quality.
  6. Keep it clean.   Wipe down surfaces, vacuum, and Spring clean frequently to help prevent the spread of illness.
